I had to play around with it a bit to get the shelf heights how I wanted them but it's nice to have so many options. The two little towel poles are handy, they come attached and cannot be separated. The shelves themselves can still move around a little which makes it feel less sturdy but with the amount of force I used to set the pole up, I know it's not going anywhere. The top shelves at first seemed like a waste but I'm going to use them for a plant that likes dark damp spaces. There were pole pieces left over so it can be even taller if needed.
